He was the only coach on Sherman's staff I respected.

I got loaded with DeRoot a few times at some donor functions. He's a natural sell to alums and to recruits.

He's a hell of a coach. He deserves to be in the SEC IMO.

Within the Mike Sherman firing debacle, losing DeRuyter was something a lot of the 12th Man Foundation didn't want any part of. They knew he would be a casualty, and it caused some added hesitation. He was not a great recruiter, but he was probably the best Xs and Os guy you could have asked for.

Lowest Nebraska scored in 2010 - Texas A&M.
Lowest OU scored in 2010 - Texas A&M.
Lowest Arkansas scored in 2010 - Alabama, but A&M held them to their second lowest.
