CBS sports list:
Sonny Dykes, head coach, Louisiana Tech: Hottest coach with the least baggage. Kentucky reportedly won't consider Petrino.
Tim DeRuyter, head coach, Fresno State: The 49-year-old has the Bulldogs tied for the Mountain West lead in his first full season as a head coach. DeRuyter came to Fresno from Texas A&M, where he was defensive coordinator.
Ben McAdoo, quarterbacks coach, Green Bay Packers: Maybe a bit young at 35, but McAdoo is an up-and-comer. After six years as the Packers' tight ends coach, he is Aaron Rodgers' position coach this season.
Kliff Kingsbury, offensive coordinator, Texas A&M: The brains behind Johnny Manziel's breakout season.
Willie Taggart, head coach, Western Kentucky: Let's hope Barnhart doesn't look down his nose at the innovative Taggart. Kentucky hiring in-state Western's head coach? It could do a lot worse.
Edit: Didn't know who Tim DeRuyter was, so I looked him up. He was Texas A&M Defensive coordinator last year and coached them to a win in their bowl game, and is in his first season as Coach at Fresno State. They are 7-3 this year (losses to Oregon 42-25, Boise 20-10, and Tulsa 27-26).
Everywhere he was DC, their defense has gotten better. I'm liking him.

Sonny Dykes is the main man.
I bet Cutt and Fulmer names is to throw people off the main target (or the last back up plan if the targets turn us down).
If I had my wish, we need to bring Tuberville back to SEC country and let his duck hunting boots on the sideline do his magic.

quote:- high risk and little reward in the SEC
Sonny Dykes
quote:- did a good job at Air Force and less well at TAMU. Not sure he can make the SEC jump
Tim DeRuyter
quote:- too young to destroy his career
Ben McAdoo
quote:- I would defer to the TAMU folks on here for a better discussion
Kliff Kingsbury
quote:- I like Taggert but that big of a jump in class could mean 3 - 5 years and real derailment
Willie Taggart
I think Chavis or Smart is the correct move but there is no incentive to get them here
If I were to go outside the box I think you look for an older guy from the NFL who had experience with a defense oriented team. Not saying Bill Cowher per se but someone along that line. Saban came from the pros and Miles did a stint in the NFL too. Kids today in the SEC are in the SEC because they want a shot to play on Sundays. How many current SEC coaches have no NFL experience?
Cowher is 55 now and his wife's death in 2010 has given him time to grieve. She was a pro basketball player and the upswing of UK's women's program may appeal to him.
