And here comes the condescending comments again when I don't agree.

What you view as condescending I view as knowing the history and how the world really works. It is not a popularity contest here in that I agree or disagree but the issue of stepping back and seeing what is best for the long term future of UK football. You internalize my comments as attacks on you which is not the intent. My comments are to say, been there, done that, and it did not work as well as folks think it did. What I am trying to do is lay the groundwork for discussion that actually results in better long term results.

Thank you for the history lesson but that doesn't really address my point.

Then when fans like you continue to follow the crowds and do things in the short term you will continue to complain when you do not get different results. Mumme and Leach put UK on probation with less tangible results than Brooks who did it the slow and steady way. Look at the history :

Hal Mumme + Guy Morris at UK in "Air Raid" era = 6 years
1997 Kentucky 5–6 = 5th (East)
1998 Kentucky 7–5 = 4th (East) Lost in bowl game
1999 Kentucky 6–6 = 4th (East) Lost in bowl game
2000 Kentucky 2–9 = 6th (East)
2001 Kentucky 2–9 = 5th (East)
2002 Kentucky 7–5 = T–4th (East)

Rich "paw paw" Brooks and the "maters" era = 7 years
2003 Kentucky 4–8 = T–5th (East)
2004 Kentucky 2–9 = T–5th (East)
2005 Kentucky 3–8 = 6th (East)
2006 Kentucky 8–5 = T–3rd (East) Won bowl game
2007 Kentucky 8–5 = T–4th (East) Won bowl game
2008 Kentucky 7–6 = 6th (East) Won bowl game
2009 Kentucky 7–6 = T–4th (East) Lost in bowl game

A part of the debate is the wins but part is how you condition your fans to trade up from coach to coach. It is also to create an edge that exploits limited recruiting. Playing UL, WKU, EKU, and Murray State does not expand the UK brand nor does it help when an instate rival uses the win to recruit against you like Louisville does. Since World War II the Ohio State Buckeyes have played the Cincinnati Bearcats (4) times and this lack of scheduling has not hurt Ohio State recruiting.

UK did not play UL for a reason once they both were no longer members of the Southern Conference. Between 1924 and 1994 (70 years) they did not play. Since then they have played 18 times and UK has lost 10 of them. Every time UK loses they slip in recruiting in the state. Yet you keep shouting about coaching changes while ignoring a whole host of greater issues.

Step back and look at the big picture so your passion is more effectively focused on creating real long term solutions.
