Bear Bryant's first game as Alabama coach took place in Mobile against eventual 1958 National Champion LSU. A section of the stadium collapsed during the game.
Most notable among the Tide's games in Mobile was the 1958 season-opener against LSU, a contest that holds the distinction of being the first game that legendary head coach Paul "Bear" Bryant ever coached at Alabama. While LSU pulled away late on a touchdown run by Heisman Trophy winner Billy Cannon, the night was made even more unforgettable for the sellout crowd in attendance when a section of the stadium's end zone stands collapsed during the game. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

yeah, it is better than used to be but its nothing great.
The field used to be absolute crap though. We played almost all of our games there when I was in high school. I think pretty much every Mobile school shared that stadium. They'd have a game there every Thurday, Friday, and Saturday night. I remember the footing on that field wasn't all that great.
The new turf is pretty nice though.

McGill.
we sucked for the most part too.
Paul Crane was our head coach until my senior year. Chris Nemeith took over that year and we finally put together a winning record. Finally beat Murphy too
Coach Crane played at Alabama and for the NY Jets. I enjoyed playing for him but things didn't end well for him at McGill.

are you gonna go to the FIU game on Saturday? its a 2:30 kickoff.
I didn't go to the Florida Atlantic game. The fish were biting that morning, what can I say?
If I don't get caught up fishing for most of the morning, I'm gonna make the drive into town. I went to the Troy game but the weather fricking sucked that day.
