Richt's contract isn't quite the anchor I thought it was

So Richt's contract has a relatively little buyout clause and appears to be designed for reevaluation. I'm interested to see how McGarrity acts. It's a tough situation for him - a lot of teams would be happy as hell to get to 8-10 wins regularly, but it is concrete as hell at this point that Richt has high-bottomed his potential. We aren't getting there with him. He's an Ole' Boy type of coach trying to swim with sharks in the current SEC climate.
In my opinion it would take a fricking outbreak of antibiotic resistant Bangkok syphillis simultaneously in Gainesville, Tuscaloosa, Columbia, Baton Rouge, and apparently even Starkville cause the mud dogs look like they would kick the crap out of us.
The bottom line is that we are "ok" with Richt, but we have no chance whatsoever to progress into champions. Hell, if things keep going like they have been 6-7 wins may be his new normal and he's gone, maybe he resigns to bounce Papua New Guinea pygmys on his knee - who knows? But I hope that the terms in this contract are what they seem, and that Richt isn't nearly as firmly seated as a lot of us seem to think.

While I agree that there's no additional upside with Richt, I'm pretty sure our admins view his consistency as more than high enough to warrant ongoing contract renewals. This will likely be his 8th 10 win season in 12 years and as you say a lot of programs including our own are happy with his performance. The discontent by UGA internet fans is not representative of how McGarity and our admins in general evaluate our situation; they mostly evaluate in terms of dollars and cents and in that regard we are consistently #2 in the nation.

I have no argument against the "cash is king" argument. 'Merica. The new president of the univesity is the main wildcard to me. Because I cannot see Richt's efficacy going up any time soon. It seems likely that the negative recruiting is going to start becoming more and more effective as we keep slipping. It just looks more and more likely that we are going to see a Fulmer redux here. It is damn near a perfect parallel.

Who gives a frick about any of that. TL;DR, BTW.
UGA can afford ANY coach in the world, including the top NFL coaches...
Richt's buy out is shite compared to the revenue UGA takes in. We could pay a coach 10 Million a year without even thinking about it. That's why some fans are pissed off. Including myself...
We lack preparation and passion. Period... And after Richt cut CTG's balls off this year (shows on the field) I've lost all hope. He is lucky we got a shite schedule the last two years, otherwise, we would be 2 years ahead of where we are going to be. (another 2 years of CMR, and failure)
I just hope he retires and does what he really wants (God's work). Jesus doesn't win National Championships. Preparation and passion does. We get the talent already, so that's taken care of.
Fire Coach Mark Richt...

Next year won't be close to a 10 win year...that's when the plug will be pulled. The 2013 schedule is fugly...

Yeah, I see 4 losses next year after an 0-2 start. 8-4 or 9-3 depending on Clemson in the year opener. Still, with the talent we have, that's a pretty manageable schedule. Too bad we will be unprepared and playing like zombies with zero emotion.

We won't fire Richt but when the time comes we'll probably "pressure" Richt into taking a job elsewhere. I think his new contract states that Richt won't be penalized if he took another job.
