Is he thought of as a great coach or just a lucky one with some good seasons?

well Stallings pretty much sucked arse when he was HC at A&M.

He gets remembered far better than his record deserves b/c his only winning season in 7 years he happened to upset Bama and Bear in the Cotton Bowl.

Seriously??? Stallings was a great coach. We had several 10+ win seasons with him. He is also a great guy, still very well loved and admired by all Bama fans.

Stallings is remembered as a great coach at Bama for winning a NC and some good 10+ win seasons. Stallings is most remembered by Bama fans and world wide for IMO the most important of all is for the man he is and the world would be a better place if we had more Gene Stallings in it. The guy's a dying breed an, "old school" that they don't make anymore.

I have several footballs signed by Bama players but my most valued is my Gene Stallings signed ball that my wife got before we were married at a Bama game. The wifey had a cheerleading scholly at Bama but her grandfather has eight seats on the thirty section J and her grandfather gave big contributions to UA and even knew The Bear and he had even been over for supper one time all before the wifey was even born.

The stories you can hear from some old people....
