I don't think LSU would be as quick to abandon the run as you think they will. They won't put it on Mettenberger unless it becomes a dire, dire situation. If they stick with the run long enough, it will work and there will be holes in the aTm defense.
Watch the time of possession. If LSU hangs on to the ball for 33+ minutes, that'll mean the running game is working and Manziel will be on the sidelines.

I agree that's where it will be decided. Can A&M stop LSU's offense? I think so, but barely. A&M holds LSU to <30, we're in good shape.
