Just Curious????
It seems as if he is constantly being mentioned for job after job that comes open on ESPN. Obviously they really like the guy, and think he can coach. Texas boards are now mentioning his name as a replacement for Mack Brown.
Yet when I get on here in the SEC rant fans seem to think he is a terrible to mediocre coach. Some Rantards have have even implied that Mullen isn't as good of a Coach as Sylvester Croom since he hasn't beat Alabama (even though Bama has won 2 national championships in Mullens 3 years as head coach)
Personally, I think the guys has done an outstanding job at Mississippi State at all phases of the game as well as with PR with our fanbase and all throughout OUR State.

He is the only SEC-west coach with a losing record to Gene Chizik, this includes John L. Smith...

When non traditional teams start to perform well there are jimmies to be rustled.

He's a countbag.
Also, the national media tend to group think.

If he was the coach of my team I wouldn't want anyone looking to steal him away. Yall don't suck for a little while, be happy.

Well unless its a team with an inferiority complex why would they want that?

It took him four years to beat a west team not named Ole Miss

I think he's a damn good coach. I don't think people realize how tough it is to load up a team with recruits that has been down for years. I hope he sticks around in Starkville for a while because I see great things in their future with him at the helm.

We know Merlins is a bad arse scientologist/coach. Don't let these haters who wish he was their coach get to you

The national media also loved Houston Nutt...

because when State beats someone, that team automatically becomes a down team.

He seems like a decent coach. He just hasn't done anything yet for anyone to take real notice. What you can say for his teams is that he beats the weak teams on the schedule and loses to the good teams. For MSU, that's good but it's nothing to get that excited about. Maybe this year will be different.

Because MSU has no chance to win the West- ever?
