The #19 Vanderbilt Commodores upset the #13 Auburn Tigers on October 4, 2008, with a score of 14 to 13. The SEC showdown took place at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, at 6:00 p.m. EST.1

Vanderbilt entered the game undefeated and as a ranked team for the first time since 1984.2 Auburn came in with a 4-1 record, after falling to the LSU Tigers on September 20, 2008.1 The overall Auburn-Vanderbilt series is quite close, with Auburn winning 20 of the previous 40 meetings, however, prior to the 2008 game, Vanderbilt had not defeated Auburn since the 1955 Gator Bowl.

October 4, 2008,

I was at this game. I believe Rebel was also there. It is the only away game other than an LSU/UF that I have ever attended. I only attended the UF game in the swamp because I was hooking up with an ex-GF who became a history prof there. This was the famous Gator Chomp game where we won by a field goal. I have not missed an LSU game at home or away in eight years or so.
