Since my pleas to join your board has fallen on deaf ears i figured i might as well post this on here even though it'll probably turn into a troll fest.

I plan on studying meteorology and hopefully run cross country and track at a&m after graduating this spring. I'm visiting y'all's campus tomorrow and I signed up for the tour deal. I have a few questions I would like to ask beforehand though.

1. For those of y'all who have done this what should I expect? How long does it take?

2. Is there anything on campus not covered by the tour I should check out? Anything in college station? Bryan?

3. How long of a drive is it from Waco?

Thanks for your help and GIG EM!

Never have taken a campus tour but I know you can take a main campus tour and whatever school you are interested in as well. The drive from Waco is pretty short...about an hour and 30 minutes. Good luck!

If in the event of an invasion by Asians, aliens, zombies or any other manner of hostile force you may take solace in the ability to take refuge any of the many buildings on campus constructed entirely of steel and concrete, with as little windows as possible.

Im a current student. Let me know because actually I know someone in that dept. And if I have time in the afternoon, I could show you around.

Oh and to answer.

1.No idea. Too long ago. Sorry. It is raining though...
2.People will say things here like the Dixie Chicken which frankly, is stupid overrated and offers little of value besides average food and average beer. Just a lot of history and good memories for many is why it gets mentioned. The Bush Presidential Library would be a place I'd go. Fargos has decent BBQ. Other than that, nothing terribly remarkable unless it has sentimental value. Maybe theres something slipping my mind.
3.Hour? I avoid that place.

Enjoy your visit, Pedro!
It's the people who make Texas A&M great--not the buildings/topography.
Afterwards, go find a bar, kick back, and chat with some folks. You'll get an authentic feel for the place.
I believe we're about an hour from Waco. But I can't imagine why you'd want to go there.
Safe travels, and congratulations on your upcoming graduation!

edited: Sorry about the bar recommendation (if you're a HS student). Also, head over to the visitor center at Rudder Tower (across from the University Center Parking Garage). They'll give you some good recommendations, as well as any help you need.

State has a hell of a meteorological school. Why go to aTm?

Come on pedro state's meteorology school is really good, and you dont get a year supply of KY when you enroll at state.

But seriously good luck in whatever you choose

Our campus architecture can best be described as "Soviet". No lie.

The new stuff really is nice though.

I was a meteorology major at A&M, so if you have any questions about the program I can help you out though it has been over 6 years since I graduated.

If you like air quality and related information I recommend any class from Dr. Don Collins. He's an awesome professor and my favorite one in the atmospheric science department. He was the guy who got me hooked on the environmental side of things and now I'm an environmental engineer (after getting my masters).

A&M has some great faculty in the department, I'm sure you will love it. However, I would definitely recommend at least an internship or two and try to figure out early on what you want to do because the job market for meteorology majors can be a little harsh if you only plan on getting an undergraduate degree.

I'll sound like a broken record for saying this over and over, but Sodolak's in Snook. Snook is roughly 14 miles from Kyle Field and from the hill in the middle of snook, you can clearly see Kyle.

Sodolak's is where chicken fried bacon was invented. I'd get it as an appetizer and the 'extra small sirloin' that laps over the plate as the main course.

Also in Snook is Slovacek Sausage. Pretty good stuff, they sell it in the concession stands at Kyle and you can get it to go at their factory/store.

While I'm on food, I am partial to Layne's Soon To Be Famous Chicken Tenders in CS. The original one is in a dump right across from the main entrace to A&M.

For you a&m fans > for you my friend

"As far as I’m concerned, all this crap in this ring represents these fans out here. For two years brother! For two years, I held my head high. I did everything for the charities. I did everything for the kids. And the reception I got when I came out here, you fans can stick it brother. Because if it wasn’t for Hulk Hogan, you people wouldn’t be here. If it wasn’t for Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff would still be selling meat from a truck in Minneapolis. And if it wasn’t for Hulk Hogan, all of these “Johnny come latelys” that you see out here wrestling wouldn’t be here. I was selling the world out brother while they were bumming gas to put in their car to get to high school."

I have a question for you:

Are you still going to root for LSU over us as previously stated?

Regardless check out Northgate on a late Friday night if possible.

If you end up at A&M, you simply MUST hit up T-camp. Whoop!
