If you look at the box-score, objectively you would wonder how we got

blown out. LINKThey had about 115 more rushing yards but the passing yardage was close. Murray's INT was the only TO in the game. Bottom line: Spurrier had a smart game-plan and they executed it perfectly; very efficient offense and defense. They scored when they had an opportunity and stopped us when they needed to. They shut down our running game and Murray either couldn't make the throws our our receivers couldn't make the catches. To me the biggest difference was Shaw's ability to make plays with his legs. We are at a big disadvantage with Murray because he is not athletic enough to make a difference running the ball when we really need it. End of story.

But the main story is our ongoing weakness in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

Did you look at the box score?

One glaring omission. They posted nearly DOUBLE the yardage as us. Also, most of our yards came in mop up time. So, no, objectively we got our asses handed to us. Both in the "statistics" and on the field.

Yes, I analyzed the box score and as you point out they nearly doubled our yardage so why wasn't the score 14 to 7 instead of 5 times our score at 35 to 7? You made my point for me.

Well, no offense but you missed some worthwhile football. Our team never gave up; they were just out played. Malcome was running hard on that last drive when we scored. Sure you can call it mop up duty but I'm sure Spurrier wanted a shutout. Our defense played hard to the end also. I'm sure SC had taken the foot off the gas somewhat at that point but still it would have been easy for our guys to lay down but they didn't. I was honestly surprised that they didn't look that tired; they just got whipped on the LOS allowing Shaw & Co. to make the plays they needed to make to win.

You have a good post.

Shaw was the difference. His 70 yards on the ground were bigger than that. They moved chains on 2nd and 3rd downs. You get stops... and you stop drives right there.

His throws looked like crap... but we couldn't make the play on the ball when we had a chance. Gotta give them credit for heaving em up there when we were almost always recovering and getting to the ball. Their receivers made plays, though.

As for our offense... Murray's athleticism is not a problem. Our ability to open running holes and our unbridled desire to get Wooten the ball were our two biggest glaring issues.

And when the OL is struggling opening holes, I really wish that we'd go to Boo earlier. He was one of our lone bright spots running the football against LSU, Michigan State, and just about every other tough defensive line we face.

This was bad coaching. There was no effort to try anything new or plan around our weaknesses or their strong points. It was stupid football. Spurrier loves our stupid coaches.

Not to be disrespectful to Coach Richt and his staff but I have to agree with this to some extent. It's not really that they are stupid, they aren't but they aren't creative/innovative. Richt counts on execution of a standard set of plays and when you are losing the battle in the trenches, that's not going to cut it. Boise is one of those special teams that can be successful on offense even when that don't match up well in the trenches. They find ways to get the numbers in their favor at the point of attack and then of course they do misdirection when teams compensate at the point of attack. Not surprisingly, Boise's old OC is now the OC at Florida and it shows in the huge improvement in the offense.

Spurrier sits there and hates us. He knows more football than Richt will ever know. He is not as good as saban but he is good. I really dislike him as I believe he is a jerk. Nothing nice to say about him.

We can not run the same plays (as you correctly point out that Richt likes to do) because even if you have superior talent, lessor talent will beat you if they know the plays and are coached well.

No offense is taken as this is a discussion board. Sometimes I am right and sometimes I am not.
Have a good night. Nothing has changed from last year.
