Spurrier needs to STFU and coach football. He shouldn't be trying to tell the press what they can and cannot write about him.

Have you missed Saban berating the press because he didn't like what they had to say?

Nope. I didn't say he should always play nice and never disagree with what was written. Debate, discourse, disagreement is all part of the arrangement. No one said he had to like it or even pretend that he liked it. That's altogether different than trying end the man's career and trying to literally control what he can and cannot write. You can complain about it all you want. But when you disregard the First Amendment, then, yes, there's a problem. I take my rights seriously. Politicians shouldn't be able to control what the media (or you and I) can say. Football coaches damn sure shouldn't be able to do that. When they can, you do get situations like Penn State. It was a bad analogy, but, basically, that's the point. Football coaches should coach football, not dictate what a free press has to say about it. There is a HUGE difference.

I love Spurrier but I think him calling for the guys job is a little much. He always blocks out media when Morris says something negative because it is the State Paper in his own city. I understand completely where Spurrier is coming from. The Penn State comment pissed me off. Hence, Spurrier had the right to make the comment. Just reassign him to Clemson but don't fire the guy. Gamecock faithful will be happy and Spurrier will be happy. Plus, Morris can cover a coach that talks to the media more.

Some of the people are making "Fire Morris" gameday signs which is absolutely dumb.

hmm, I thought the thread was about a coach trying to get a reporter fired, not about a veiled message to his team by being an unwarranted dick.

This. A Bama fan can't say shite about how another coach treats the media. Period. Ie yet to see a Bama fan call our Saban's tyrannical attitude toward media.
