Truth, or else they wouldn't try so hard to get acceptance from society. It's like drug addicts, they don't want to be the only ones doing it because they can't handle the level of guilt and shame associated with it, therefore they try to bring others into it with htem so they can have a false sense of acceptance.

I strongly recommend we pump the brakes a little, man. Maroon - I hear you. I was raised with traditional values. I'm not crazy about the in-your-face homosexual "special rights" movement, and particularly I'm not terribly convinced by the parallel to the black civil rights movement.

However, if we can draw a distinction in the way we view "homosexuality" (Biblically, spiritually), versus how we treat and accept the person who identifies as homosexual - the New Testament pretty much requires us to love and protect our fellow man, despite sin - and heteros are just as guilty of promiscuity, drunkenness, adultery, blasphemy and other abominations.

From a practical, secular matter, a stable, middle-class homosexual (or couple), with whom you can agree and cooperate on many issues can be a far better asset to society than any number of hardcore drug addicts.

gayness shouldn't be celebrated.. i won't throw stones at them or publicly humiliate them... but the fact that they want it celebrated is beyond me. but, just about everything in our society is inverted right now.. so this glorification of gayness is par for the course.

Indeed, the Bible does call upon us to see the homosexual as a person, with dignity and value in the eyes of God. It is also true that people of all natures commit abominable sins, and sometimes snowmen, including all manner of heterosexual sins. They also cheat, lie and steal.

I think perhaps the reason that the homosexual issue rears its head so sharply is due to its being such a particularly aberrant sexual sin and not only being tolerated, but celebrated and promoted. When it was a closeted activity, and those who practiced it accepted the impropriety of the behavior, the issue, while having different repercussions, didn’t seem to elicit the same visceral reactions that it does today. Yes, one can anecdotally point to violent and hateful treatments of homosexuals in the past. However, one can also anecdotally point to many, many cases in which people simply knew about the two old men or ladies who were "roommates" and they lived very tolerantly along side of them.
I have a problem, however, with living along side of someone who may attempt to proselytize my children with the gay agenda.

As to the civil rights analogies, you are right. The two scenarios are apples to oranges. Being gay does not equal being black.

Your responses are well thought out, temperate in nature and winsomely put forth. I do appreciate that.
