Why not?
He brought a Heisman trophy to Baylor of all places.
If Arkansas is as prestigious as you make it out to be, who says he can't be successful there?
One of the best coaches out there, IMO.
Let's be real here, if your AD goes out and hires John L. fricking Smith and thought he was a capable head coach, then you'll end up with an OL coach from Wyoming as your next head coach.

He might do well here, but like I said I think a defensive minded guy is our best shot

He only hired him because there weren't any good coaches to choose from at the time.... it's not like Long made a long term hire of Smith
