Then you'll get a kick out of this story. About two or three weeks later during LSU's open date week Hallman was the speaker at the Birmingham Quarterback Club. This was right after Alabama had beaten Tennessee in Knoxville and Auburn had upset #1 Florida in Gainesville and both Ala and Aub were top 5 or so,so the place was packed and folks were whooping it up.

If you remember, late in the Florida game, the Gators were up 33-29 and Terry Dean threw a pass that was intercepted by Auburn giving them one last chance. So, a Birmingham sportscaster had put togethor a video with Alabama and Auburn highlights that he narrarated(that guy was not in attendance).

Remember, Hallman is sitting right in the front at the dais.So they get to the part when Dean takes the snap and is about to throw the pick to Auburn."NOW ITS TIME FOR THE CURLEY HALLMAN BONEHEAD PLAY OF THE GAME !" The place just broke up with people laughing their heads off while poor ol' Curley just sat up front looking like someone had walked in on him sitting on the can.

Yep. I was at that game as well. If I remember correctly, that pick was on a 3rd and long. UF could have run, taken more time off the clock and pinned up pretty deep. I believe UF was on about their own 35 yard line. Instead, that pick was returned about 30 yards in the other direction and set us up at about the UF 40. Pass to the TE (the gator play) and couple more gains and then Sanders in the end zone.

Spurrier took quite a bit of heat from that call after the game.
