Question about the 2002 AL LSU game

I was 12 when this game was going on so I don't remember exactly what happened. It seems odd that an Alabama team coached by Fran would beat a Saban coached LSU team 31-0 in tiger stadium.
Did LSU have a ton of injuries or what?

Your bait seems tasty but I've smelled it before.

A. Saban was a very good coach while at LSU, but not nearly as good as he is now
B. That was the week after the Bluegrass Miracle game
C. LSU's 2002 squad wasn't that good after Mauck got hurt

Fran could coach but was a weasel. Shaud and Santonio were running behind a good O-line
Saban shite the bed and Marcus Randall weren't no daisy in that game

I thought it was UAB. Dude is just making the rounds. Losses to:
Conference USA
Sunbelt
Mountain West
Just waiting on the WAC and Mid-American I suppose.

Fran was a good coach while at Alabama. He wasn't the best coach but he was a solid coach nonetheless. Fran's coaching problems really didn't start until he left Alabama in the middle of the night for Texas A&M. I think that move really hurt his reputation among potential high school recruits and it never recovered. Had we not have gone on probation we would have been in the SEC title game in 2002 and might have even been a challenge for Auburn in 2004.

He had much bigger problems than his reputation with HS coaches during his time at A&M. He is universally despised by every A&M fan who lived through that nightmare

He could of taken care of the MAC loss while at MSU

I don't really get the hate for Fran. His record at Texas A&M not withstanding, the dude took a team that started out 3-5 in 2001 and finished 7-5 with it. He then proceeded to go 10-3 with Alabama in 2002 and would have gone 11-2 had he not blown the Iron Bowl. He built TCU's program and made it possible for Gary Patterson - his defensive coordinator while at TCU - to achieve the success he has achieved thus far. Franchione's downfall was that he got too greedy.
