point is not that TM7 is overrated. Point is that people dismiss banks too easily.

Which is why the OP is titled "Will LSU fans finally admit they dismiss Banks too easily?", right?
Because the sudden dismissal of one of LSU's defensive stars is a great opportunity to trumpet one of State's defensive stars.

Banks is dismissed becuase while he is playing his defense is getting worked so it is hard to single him out. It's hard to say "That Banks guy is really good!" while his team is losing by 20. Also, Mississippi State hardly plays on CBS, and is hardly on T.V. at all really. Banks doesn't get any exposure. Summed up, Banks plays for Mississippi State and that is why he is dismissed easily.
