FWIW I don't equate being overrated to being bad.

Good thing the grammar police are out in full force, don't know how the board would get by without them.
Seriously, I misspell "you're" because I had to make a quick post and run and 4 people point it out . This board is going to shite.

All I've seen is Banks has more int's. I'm not comparing Banks/TM7. I'm saying it makes no sense to say TM7 is overrated.

He is treated by many on this site as if he is some once in a lifetime talent at the corner position. He is a sparkplug type player and a great energizer. But, LSU will have no problem replacing his production at the corner position.

Calling players coaches teams and conferences over rated is OVER-RATED.
One of the most trendy and obnoxious jealous-looking things you can do.
He is what he is. A tremendous football player who makes plays and is a game changer who not only won best db in the nation (as a sophomore) but also won SEC defensive player of the year (as a sophomore.)
Who in all of college football accounted for more turnovers individually than TM7? Who accounted for more non-offensive scoring?
Oh and the man wraps up his tackling in the open field among the best. He also lead the Tigers defense in tackles last season.
Bet your pathetic self didn't know that. You ignorant bro.

As a playmaker yes.

Steve Dave, if you are going to continually post platitudes without any evidence to back up your point, no one is going to be persuaded.
Please properly rate Fred Smoot so we can determine if you know anything about football, Steve Dave.

Surely you have links to back this up.
Right?
He was a very rare talent as a ball hog and playmaker.
I'd love to see the links of people who said he was a one in a lifetime cover corner or pass defender.
Let's see them.

When compared to other SEC defensive backs last season, Banks was the only player to rank in the top three in tackles (third), tackles for loss (third), sacks (first), interceptions (third), passes defended (second), fumbles forced (third), quarterback hurries (tied for first), punt return touchdowns (tied for second), and interceptions returned for touchdowns (tied for first).
point is not that TM7 is overrated. Point is that people dismiss banks too easily.

I appreciate your perspective Tds, but the subject of this thread belies your attempt to inject objectivity into it.

No question. I think people dismiss your team in general too easily.

Which is why the OP is titled "Will LSU fans finally admit they dismiss Banks too easily?", right?
Because the sudden dismissal of one of LSU's defensive stars is a great opportunity to trumpet one of State's defensive stars.
Never waste a crisis, right?

Banks is dismissed becuase while he is playing his defense is getting worked so it is hard to single him out. It's hard to say "That Banks guy is really good!" while his team is losing by 20. Also, Mississippi State hardly plays on CBS, and is hardly on T.V. at all really. Banks doesn't get any exposure. Summed up, Banks plays for Mississippi State and that is why he is dismissed easily.
