George Wallace was "Guvnah" during a terrible time in US history. He also won a large percentage of the black vote when he did an about face during his presidental campaign.

A terrible time, during the explosion of TV onto the World scene in which there were three networks. Pretty sure everybody saw "the news" back then. I did, of course there wasn't nuthin else to watch on the new fangled invention either.

During the explosion of "cable TV" onto the world stage.. Let just say a "highly segmented audience" I didn't live in La at the time..and didn't see much of Mr Duke at all and I didn't look for it either cause I was getting my money for nothing and my chicks for free...on MTV

But then again, that my viewpoint and perception.

:coolstorybro:

For those of us who did live in Louisiana at the time, it was kind of big effin deal.

I was a senior in high school in Baton Rouge. My integrated public skrewl decided it would be a great idea to have a mock election. If Duke had won the mock election, I was going to call in sick the next day for fear of riots. The following April was the Rodney King riots in Cali (do you remember that? do you remember anything?).

I was extemely happy to be a freshman at LSU that fall and far away from public high school in EBR.

Just be glad enough people voted for the crook.

It was kinda important.

I went to the Sanger Theatre on Canal in NO to see Jerry Seinfeld live. David Duke and 2 female companions (his chicks weren't free) sat next to me.

It was a major embarressment for LA with The Thief Edwin Edwards (the only way I can lose my office is if I'm caught in bed with a dead girl or live boy) running against the Klan Wizard David Duke.
