Am I the only one with issues regarding the Nate Silver article and using that as proof that aTm has a large fan base?

Click the link... the guys uses google searches for "college football" as his basis for who is a fan of college football and the relative concentration of "college football" searches as the determinant for what regions have the highest proportion of CFB fans. That is ludicrous. Most semi-intelligent, semi-computer-literate CFB football fans would NEVER search for "college football." What kind of crappy results would that yield? Case in point, Birmingham has the highest per capita concentration of "college football" searches.

All Silver's article shows is which regions:
A. have a higher concentration of people who are
B. seeking vague information about a sport they are probably not that interested in and
C. don't know where to find said information and
D. suck at generating search terms

Other than the basic foundation the entire article is structured on, not too bad...
