Darren McFadden.

As awesome as McFadden was, Arkansas wasn't that great during the years he was there... hard to win a Heisman when your team is pretty average.

Which is stupid, IMO.

You give the award to the best player in the nation, not the best player on the best team.

Which is what sucked.

Best RB and best player in college football, and never won the Heisman.

What he did to SEC defenses week in and week out, was absolutely nuts.

This has been the trend unfortunately, but it's intended to be an individual award. I know this will be written off as homerism, but Troy Smith over McFadden deserves to be in the conversation about biggest heisman snubs.

It's better for the Heisman to go to an excellent player on an average team, than an average player on an excellent team.

McFadden was written off as a candidate that year because he was a sophomore. Lots of people, including voters, saying "he might be better than Smith, but you can't give it to a sophomore."

Next year, media darling Tebow and same people are saying "You can't not give it to him just because he's a sophomore!"

FWIW, Tebow absolutely deserved that award over McFadden as a sophomore, but McFadden also deserved it as a sophomore.
