I'm asking if anyone knows whether FSU fans were in an uproar over the rematch or not? You know, stuff like "they didn't deserve to be there", etc. Are FSU fans still pissed about that game or have they moved on and accepted Florida as the legitimate national champion?

The system we have today is much better than back then. Today, we have a system that tries to pit the most deserving teams together for the NC. Back then, hell BYU could win a championship by playing their bowl game against a 6-5 regular season Michigan. It was not as controversial, and especially since both were conference champions. In this case, you had a team that was not only not a conference champion playing, but not even a divisional champion. Was Alabama better than Okie St? Hell yeah. Were they more deserving? No

We really needed this thread though, it will solve all of our squabbles.
