Based upon national success in the big 3 sports, since Arkansas joined the league.

In no particular order, the top 8 would have to be:

LSU, Florida, Bama, Auburn, Tenn, Georgia, SC, Kentucky.

The next tier would have to be:

Vandy, Texas A&M, Missouri

The bottom tier would have to be:

Arkansas, Miss State, and Ole Miss

I believe these are pretty valid groupings based upon national success. YET, we have many on this board for a certain team claiming they are one of the top overall sports programs in the SEC. Wow.

Your bait is too obvious with Arkansas in the bottom tier.

Historically? LSU is 5th in the nation in NCAA championships across 7 different sports. Probably construed as a homer statement (maybe it is) but I'd say LSU easily. Last 10-20 years...I'd say UF.

This would be a good thread if you weren't constantly flaming Arkansas and such a shitty poster. I like the effort though!

this thread is so broad that you won't be able to justify any of these teams. Before you flame this comment, MSU does belong in the bottom tier. Until you can prove which sport is more important than the other and how past and present success factors into these so called "tiers" than you should probably just ask to RA this thread yourself.

Obvious fish is obvious and as much as it pains me to defend the hogs, stop being retarded.

In the time frame given, Arkansas has a NC in basketball and a runner up, multiple trips to the CWS and a couple SECW Championships and a BCS bowl appearance. If they are bottom tier, so is Kentucky.

When did South Carolina join the league?

Interesting that you would single out Arkansas...

Shocked, I am.

In no particular order, the top 8 would have to be:

LSU, Florida, Bama, Auburn, Tenn, Georgia, SC, Kentucky.

So is Carolina included strictly because of the last few years (awesome baseball team, drastically improved football team)?

quote:

The next tier would have to be:

Vandy, Texas A&M, Missouri

And this is how I knew you were trolling or high on bath salts.

These numbers are from after the 2010 season but I'm sure it hasn't changed much since then...

quote:

SEC Records since the 1992 expansion

1. Florida 121-31
2. Tennessee 105-46-1
3. Alabama 96-55-1
4. Auburn 94-57-1
5. Georgia 92-59-1
6. LSU 87-64-1
7. Arkansas 71-79-2
8. South Carolina 60-91-1
9. Mississippi 60-92
10. Mississippi State 55-96-1
11. Kentucky 43-109
12. Vandy 23-129

*vacated wins count
*regular season only

LINK

You can say Arkansas is second tier. But to say Vanderbilt is on a higher tier is hi-friggin-larious.
