OPELIKA, Alabama -- The Harvey Updyke trial came to a stunning conclusion before it had even started when Judge Jacob Walker ruled this morning that the jury pool was so tainted that it was impossible for Updyke to receive a fair trial.

Is moving it out of state an option?

i thought the judge only granted a continuance? a continuance changes little to nothing. However if he decided the jury pool is to tainted then outside of moving the trial to to Oregon i dont see how this trial can continue

So they go through about 30-50 potential jurors and they call it quits?
Nice.
Nice.

I wish they would move it to Tuscaloosa. It would be a win/win for AU, IMO.

Whats stunning or surprising about that? In the state of Alabama, theres pretty good odds that the jury will consist of a majority Alabama/Auburn fans. Bama fans want him to get a slap on the wrist and Auburn fans want him to hang in the streets at Toomer's corner.
