In the first game against LSU we probably outplayed them. However, we kept shooting ourselves in the foot. We were inside the 25-yard-line five times, outgained them, punted twice, and scored six points. It is almost not possible. The loss was all about what we did. That is what our player's saw the next time we played...

When our players saw the pain their teammates had after losing the first game, it gave them incentive to play harder the second game. That is what you saw in the national championship game. When the other team cannot get across the 50-yard line, there is some relentless football going on.

Great analysis, yet again, from Coach Saban

Guy is starting to sound like Obama about the first game. Pretty pathetic.

if by "shooting ourselves in the foot" you mean "kept trying 70 yard FGs with a 30 yard leg" then sure.....call it what you want.

Ask him not to make up excuses for when he loses in baton rouge this year, too

Upon reading that, I am convinced that Saban lurks on the SECRant and decided to do a little trolling.

Yeah, freeze up inside the 25 yard line, call stupid plays, play like crap, and let LSU punch you in the mouth over and over again.

Oh yeah, and the last time you were there? You quit. AJ McCarron ended up in a fetal position around the 30 yard line crying "No Mas."

Saban is so full of it.

I'll give them credit for the second game. But, the first game, Alabama only went backwards once they got inside the 25 yard line and that is not "all about what we did." Except quit and choke.

Sounds like some fan base is a little afraid of LSU this year

I'm not a Saban hater by any means, but that sounds like a little bs. We shot ourselves in the foot multiple times too. Ball inside the five with seconds left in the half. JL throwing pics. Truthfully we stonewalled the Bama offense anytime they got close to the 25. We dominated their Oline all night. 1/9 is a different story. Bama adapted and we did not.

Typical gump mentality of "we beat ourselves."

LSU did cross the 50 on 1/9/12

Moral victory.

Did he mention LSU's misfortunes in the redzone?

Could that guy be a bigger horse's behind?

Those plays he ran in OT were just brilliant. Bill Walsh stuff. And I'm sure all along LSU's plan was to just get to the ONE before halftime and try a FG.

Without a doubt one of the douchiest things I've heard a head coach say.

How could Alabama have outplayed LSU if they kept shooting themselves in the foot and could not finish inside the Red Zone? Sounds like they got beat to me.

It gnaws at Saban and keeps him up at night that he only went 1-1 against LSU last year. It will forever be a blemish on his sterling record that he lost to Les Miles and LSU at home in a year where he claims a National Championship.

I think that a certain school in Baton Rouge is in his head. Good. He'll overprepare again for the game in November and get his butt handed to him.

I think he's already afraid. It really is sad. He should relish the championship given him and move forward. Oh well. Typical Gump. Just living in the past.
