Did the events of 1/9/2012 kill LSU's team morale and program as we know it?

That night was ugly, really ugly. Maybe the most lopsided championship game in college football history. You have to know the players, coaches, everyone affiliated with the program left the Super Dome that night totally demoralized.

My question is, will LSU come into the 2012 - 2013 season with their heads hanging and tail tucked between their legs?

There is precendent for one game changing a program's culture.

Oklahoma did it to FSU in 2000. Miami did it to Nebraska in 2001. Alabama did it to Texas in 2009.

It wasn't a title game, but LSU did it to Tenn in 2001.

Is LSU next? I tend to think so, I can sympahtize with the Tigers, and I truly hope we don't see a proud program take the easy route and fold.

They come back hungry, motivated, pissed, etc. and make people their bitch again all year. Anything worse than 10-2 is a major letdown.

I don't think so. I love the make-up of this LSU team returning. I've been waiting to see what this team could do with ONE solid quarterback. The quarterback rotation NEVER works (UF was dif, Timmy basically played fullback). This LSU team will be sick.

Yes, we are done. We might as well get rid of our football program at LSU. I don't see how we ever come back from this. We'll be lucky to make a bowl game next season. Absolutely demoralizing. I might just transfer so I don't have to see the look of disappointment on the faces of my fellow classmates every week after a game.

The destruction that started last year was just a little prelude to this year. We weren't even supposed to contend last year. 2012 was always the year things were supposed to come together for LSU. So keep dreaming.

I was at the Florida/Florida State rematch in the Sugar Bowl in 1997.

Florida State had won the regular season match. Bobby Bowden wasn't thrilled about having to play Spurrier again.

Seminoles got spanked 52 to 20.

That was much more lopsided.

It was the most points Florida State had allowed since losing 59-27 to Auburn in 1985.

FSU went on to win a national title two years later.

Nah, hell UF/OSU, USC/OU, MIA/NEB were more lopsided

It was a bad night for LSU, but they'll be fine in 2012.

Awesome,well-thought out post. Dead on accurate. The clock struck 12 that night and LSU was exposed. Only sheer luck kept LSU competitive after Nick Saban left LSU.

Honestly, other than Towson State, LSU will be hard pressed to be favored in any other game this fall.I'm not sure LSU will participate in another bowl game for maybe 7-8 years UNLESS,somehow, someway there is a season when LSU goes 5-7 and some bowls need an NCAA waiver simply to conduct a game.

The last 7 years of poor football, poor coaching, bad facilities and lukewarm fan support have finally caught up with LSU.

It's only a matter of time until LSU goes 0-12 this year, Miles quits, and TS is torn down.
