And frankly, it will raise the level of play for teams like Florida, Georgia and South Carolina to have to plan for 'Bama and Auburn every year.

And while raising the level of play for FL/UGA/USC it would dilute the level of play for LSU, would it not?

Hoping you wouldn't notice that.

Seriously, over a lot of years it won't matter. Programs' strengths wax and wane. Right now it's LSU and 'Bama (with a little Arky pretentiousness thrown in for spice), but over the next 20 years, that power will shift all over the place (well, except maybe for Vandy and Kentucky).
