I'm sure you are, and I wouldn't blame you if you told Texas no, but I PROMISE you in a few years, Aggie Nation would jump at the chance to duke it out with the Longhorns on the field again

Im not saying we wont want to play them again. Im saying I doubt we make any special concessions with them to have the game at the end of the season if we dont want to. They are the ones cancelling the series.

The Aggies have a great band. The 1st game I went to in Little Rock was in 1986. I was a little kid, but I still remember being impressed with your band. BTW, the Aggs were #7 and we stopped you inside our 15 yardline to win the game. The stadium was shaking. I'm not obsessed with you guys at all, but I do respect your traditions

Motion to quash the term "t.u." It's too petty. I get the logic behind it but I think we can get over it. Just say "horns" or some shite. And no, I am not an Aggie apologist. shite's dumb. Just like saying "t.u."

Also, the war hymn has been that way for generations. It was produced at a time when A&M was a military school with what I imagine to be an "us against the world" mentality. I mean, what else could you be when you're stuck in old-time CS with a bunch of dudes -- military dudes, no less.

Naturally, there was a lot of focus on Texas who seemingly had it all. Obviously a lot of animosity and to a degree, jealousy. After all, we're talking about group of [insert military colloquilism] trying to catch a break while the horns are riding nice in Austin. Thus, we responded to their one-line shot with an entire verse intending to belittle them. The rivalry with Texas was their form of recreation; their escape. It was important to them. Much more than it was to Texas (I guess that's still true). The verse's construction probably had as much to do with natural competition as it did with just being happy to be noticed. Again, small military school.

Alas, the verse stuck. It what it is and isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Didn't read the entire thread, but the post I did read, an Lsu claimed Auburn and Alabama as your main rivals....just curious, have you ever heard of the Iron Bowl?

If we play the whorns in the future, it will be early in the season. LSU will stay our last game on rivalry weekend. We will establish a long lasting tradition of BTHO swamp kittens on turkey day.

Why you care so much piggy?

LSU already dumped A&M back in 96.

We aren't dumping the Piggies. Just putting you on the Happy Hour Menu. Boudin Balls.

Never seriously considered dumping Florida. Only suggested a change in the schedule making.

have the Arkansas game moved to Fayettville

Fayetteville >> Little Rock
I'm glad it's moving. An away game is an away game.

move Arkansas to the middle of the schedule

Advantage LSU. Arkansas is better in November than in September or October.

My point exactly....
Some folks claimed Tulane and ole miss too.
When was the last time Tulane was relevant? And, you ever heard of the Egg bowl?...
Geographically speaking, we don't have a relevant school that is competitive that would be our rivals. Atm, is the closest thing to it.

Fact of the matter is, we don't care for Arkansas too much. Seems you guys are hurt we do not care about y'all as much as y'all care about us. atm got just about as many mentions as y'all did, once...

You definitely sound like an aggie apologist. The phrase "t.u." is a tradition at A&M, from the War Hymn using the phrase "texas university" to BTHO tu. Why change that because you think it is only tied to a bunch of early cadets 100 years ago when tu also had a corps? I don't think it was an "escape", but a natural part of any rivalry... altering names to make fun of them.

You think it is "petty" because because you are a whiny bitch. How old are you? Did you grow up a tu fan?

It's still incorrect.

Gig'em

Damn straight. They're not even visible in the rear view mirror anymore. We don't need to circle the block and drive back by the house.

The LSU vs A&M end of regular season game is perfect. No sense screwing this one up.

Now if we can only get the student body (Prez said it's up to student body) to change the f-ing fight song. I didn't like it when there at school over 20 years ago, and still don't.

Sure have.
I'd say OM was our biggest rival, when they were relevant, before aTm joined in the conference.

My point in saying, "heard of the Egg Bowl?", is that OM has an in-state rival, just as the Iron Bowl. Just because Arkansas is a bordering state, to the north, doesn't mean we are necessarily rivals. They create some trophy, just because we played them late in the season, and dub us their rival. Usually Arkansas is one of the last schools in the SEC west that an average LSU fan would name as a traditional rival. They are somewhat equal to Mississippi State, in that regard.

ETA: Ole Miss has never truly been relevant. Edit "relevant", for "competitive".

I find that hard to believe....but no. I really like AU/LSU series as I think many LSU and AU fans do. Always hard hitting, usually close, many times with odd happenings...but we're not 'rivals' Bama/LSU is a big game if both are doing well, if one or the other isn't, it's pretty much just another game, though it may be a bit bigger for LSU due to history. That's been my sense of it anyways.
