dude, i think it was hurricane ivan(can't remember exactly) that ripped through the alabama town that we lived in (that is about 150 miles from the coast)....tore the town up, we didn't have power for 3 or 4 days. it did major damage as far as montgomery and up to birmingham. that was one of the scariest things i have ever experienced.

Yeah, Ivan was at 130 mph when it hit Orange Beach/Perdido Beach. It was still a hurricane at Selma 120 miles inland. I'll never forget seeing the local forecast even that far inland calling for souteast winds of 75 to 85 mph with gusts to 100 even that far inland. Witnessing that kind of wind blowing through large pine trees is incredibly intimidating.
