The Greater B'ham TV market is no bigger than the Capital Area of PA (Harrisburg/York) Three times as many people live in the 7 counties surrounding Philadelphia than the entire state of Alabama

And when you have almost a third of the population headed to games on saturday(with a large portion making a weekend of it) it's hard to get them to go and do it again on sunday

Bingo, the only people who could travel the round trip from the Liberty Bell to Old Main on Penn State in less than 8 hours are the OTers that run 4 flat 40's.

On a football Saturday turn the 8 hours into 12 due to traffic in Happy Valley

Yes, and this would be especially true for the high rollers in the state who might otherwise be paying for luxury boxes for the pro team.

All of these reasons are why I think Alabama has a better shot at supporting a pro team in another sport other than football, but there are problems all around.
