You would be shocked at the money here, it makes me sick/jealous sometimes. The challenge, all of those donors with big $$$ are very, very demanding. Some of them, I simply downright hate. (I am a lifelong resident of Benton County, Bentonville is the county seat).

Damn. I mean, I wasn't implying there's not a ton of money. I figured there was. But when you make a guy the highest paid coach in the country, you're sending a pretty clear message to everyone else. And it also can sometimes ruffle the feathers of other admins that suddenly now have to start restructuring what they are going to offer their coaches. Universities like Bama can get away with it because it's expected. This is going to be interesting.

One of the reasons Bama was able to get Saban was that they were willing to throw the money at him AND they were so desperate that the boosters financing it were willing to give up their meddling rights. In 2007 there was a bit of the power struggle that still didn't want to give over control, and this is one of the reasons I never thought Saban would be interested in Texas. It'll be interesting to see if Arkansas does end up paying that, whether or not the politics will be tolerable.

I don't shop at Wal-Mart because I always wonder how much of my purchase goes straight to Arky. I won't have a cent involved in Gruden's salary.
