I shouldn't be amazed by it because of the world we live in today but I can't help myself but feeling sorry for those that will justify behavior like Petrino's just for the sake of the almighty dollar. You will try to hang on to a proven scumbag like Petrino because you feel some superiority to consistent third place finishes. You will also jeopardize the integrity of the university over a football coach.

This is what happens when you build someone up to larger than life status. I have said this to Arkansas fans on here several times. The coach worship was pretty sad by Arkansas fans. It's time to come back to reality.

Just a pitiful situation all around.

It happens all the time in the real world. An employee screws up, goes against the code of ethics, etc., and is generally fired. However, if that employee is the life source of the company, and the boss knows that he won't find a replacement that is as good, then exceptions are sometimes made.

Personally, I think you are taking all of this way too seriously. The "integrity of the university" isn't going to be tarnished if Petrino stays. Everybody knows that football is there to make money, and nothing more. SEC football has never been an epitome of integrity, anyways.

You can call it whatever you want, but Long's main purpose is to make money through the athletic program. Football is the primary cash cow here. He knows that this will blow over in time, as all things do. He just has to decide if dealing with the flak of keeping Petrino on is worth the continued success or if he is better off setting the program back 10+ years and losing a lot of revenue just to get a temporary pat on the back from judgmental people of opposing fan bases.

Arkansas needs you to know that "integrity" needs to be put in quotes when referring to itself. Loooooolz.
