LSU really has the most potential in the SEC. Larger population base

Larger than Florida, Texas and Georgia? Are you out of your mind?

You just described pretty much every SEC state except maybe Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky.

they are the major university in their state, they don't really have to share the state with other schools. La Tech, ULL, Tulane are glorified DII schools.

Florida shares a much bigger state with really only three other significant programs: Miami, FSU and USF. Georgia shares its bigger state with only one: Ga. Tech. A&M shares a freaking HUGE state with maybe five: Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, Houston. All the rest are Tulane, ULL, ULM, La. Tech level programs. Missouri shares another bigger state with no one.

Taking the population of each SEC state and dividing it by the number of major programs in the state to get the population presumably available to each school, LSU would not rank in the top four in the SEC. At the very least, Florida, Georgia, Texas A&M and Missouri would rank ahead in terms of available population per school.
