I live in the Austin area and the BIG12 is fixing to sign a TV deal with both ESPN & Fox for 2.2 BILLION dollars over 14 years.
My first thought was if the BIG12 can get that much the SEC should be able to get more. Does anyone here know when or if we are able to renegotiate our contract with ESPN?
By the way they only have split that money with 10 schools.

The SEC should just go ahead and start own cable channel FWIW.
ETA: Terrible thread title BTW.

They should be able to renegotiate immediately. The ACC signed a deal with ESPN in 2010 but was able to get a new deal after adding Syracuse and Pitt.

Start our own station. Everyone in the SEC would purchase it.

It's called the SEC Network, and it's coming. Also, it's the only reason Texas A&M was allowed in.
When all is said and done, SEC schools will make $1-2M more than PAC schools, $2-3M more than B1G, and $5M more than Big XII schools.

They are saying each school in the BIG12 would get 22 Mill a year. So based off of your math we would get 27 mill or so a year. That's alot of money.
Do you have some kind of info on the SEC network and when we would see it or is this just speculation.
