Neinas supports Four Team playoff
Of course the SEC would prefer just the top 4 in the polls, because there's a good chance they could end up with 2. Heck, they could have ended up with 3 last year.
So what say you? Conference Champions or top 4 in rankings? I feel like if you do four conference champs, ND will be forced to join a conference immediately and then you'll have mass conference expansion.

“I like the idea, if you're going to take four, take four champions,” Neinas said. “They're not hard to identify.
“The selection process is one that would concern me. The easiest is taking four conference champions.”

Any playoff format that doesn't guarantee #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3 is worse than what we have now and shouldn't even be considered an option.

Four team, conference champs only format will never happen.

conference champs
I see this happening if they had 4 16 team conferences, then there would be internal playoffs in each conference, but this still leaves an occasional team out

Starting each year with half of the teams already eliminated from title contention will never happen.

slive fricked up the conference so id like him to stay out of this

A four-team playoff with only conference champions will never happen. The only way it'll stand the slightest chance is if everybody starts crowning their conference champions the same way, with a conference title game. Four "super" conferences of sixteen teams each sending one team (winner of a 2-4 team conference playoff) to the national title playoff would probably work.

3of the last four years would have probably seen two sec teams in a four team playoff (bama, florida in 08&09, Bama,LSU in 11). Slive would be an idiot to sign off on this.

You are aware Arkansas lost to LSU & Bama by a combined 7 touchdowns ?

including conference champs in a four team playoff was actually an idea that slive floated a couple years ago
that idea met with resistance from the pac/big 1G types... but this year might have changed their opinion

16 team conferences will suck dick.
14 team ones already suck bad enough

I have no idea why Delaney would sign off on it either. The Big 10 would have had two teams in a four team playoff twice in 2005 and 2006 if a straight four team playoff existed back then. They're going to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of a four team playoff that takes the four best teams.

Much as I would like to see a SEC West runner up like Bama excluded from a playoff, I vote for top 4 in rankings.
As ammo for my argument, I offer up the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament -- which prior to 1975 only allowed one team per conference, aka the conference champion, to play in the tournament.
From the wiki:

Prior to 1975, only one team per conference could be in the NCAA tournament. However, after several highly ranked teams in the country were denied entrance into the tournament (e.g., South Carolina, which was 14-0 in conference play in 1970, Southern Cal which was ranked #2 in the nation in 1971, and Maryland which was ranked #3 in the nation in 1974), the NCAA began to place at-large teams in the tournament, instead of just conference champions.
Top 4. I'm sure every Bama fan will agree with me on that one.

I hate agreeing with a Bammer but dammit you're right.

Agree. If they had the option they are now floating as a rule last year and somehow UGA beat's LSU the 4 teams to play in their playoff's would have been Okie State, UGA, Oregon and Wisconsin.

And the way that college basketball determines who gets to play in the NCAA tournament doesn't make any sense either. Why do mid-major teams get in the NCAA tournament based on what they do in the conference tournament rather than the regular season? Explain to me how one good week of basketball should override three or four months of being the best team in the conference. The regular season champs should get the automatic bids not the conference tournament champions.
