Arkasas's NC is about as legitimate as LSU's NC this year

You know what? You are right. I thought they at least had a share of it (AP or UPI) in '64. Now I see Bama had both. Yeah that's a pretty bogus claim. We can argue about NC claims all day, but I can't really think of any other schools (besides Bama's bogus '41 claim) who claim an NC in the poll era (post 1936) who didn't when one of the two major polls (AP or UPI).

Bowl Results for 1964 suggest otherwise. Arkansas ended up 11-0. Bama lost to Texas (a team that Bear Bryant could never beat while at Bama) in the Orange Bowl and ended up at 10-1. Texas' only loss was to Arkansas. Any modern day formula would have given Ark the NC, with Texas #2 and Bama probably # 3.

The Arkansas claim as 1964 National Champions is more legit than Bama's by a mile.

ORANGE BOWL #3 Texas Longhorns 21 #1 Alabama Crimson Tide 17
COTTON BOWL #2 Arkansas Razorbacks 10 #6 Nebraska Cornhuskers 7
ROSE BOWL #5 Michigan Wolverines 34 #8 Oregon State Beavers 7
SUGAR BOWL #7 LSU Tigers 10 Syracuse Orangemen 7
