If that makes you feel better. Sure.
College Football also wasn't played before 2001 and the season ended this year after the SEC Championship game, right?

The Coaches' Poll began selecting the top 20 teams on a weekly basis during the 1950-1951 college football and basketball seasons. It was initially published by United Press (after 1958, United Press International). For the 1990-1991 football and basketball seasons, the poll expanded to a top 25, and it has retained this format since.

you don't win a nat championship when you lose to notre dame (who were undefeated) in the sugar bowl bone head.
Someone needs a history lesson on AP poll voting methods from 1936-1964 and UPI/Coaches' poll voting methods from 1958-1974.

it's nice to bring up the other titles from before the era. But programs are judged by the current formula.

That's for teams that had little or no success in the past. Bama has it now and had it then.

Overall programs are judged on their history. That's not to say that recent success doesn't help and factor in. But when you talk about royalty in college football, it's based on overall success since the programs have been in existence.

Let's at least get the facts straight for LSU Nation: Bama's National Titles started 1925 under Coach Wallace Wade record 9-0--1 NC selected by Billingsley Report, Boand System, College Football Research Association, Helms Athletic Foundation, Houlgate System, National Championship Foundation, and Poling System. Bama also was the 1st Southern Team invited and winner of the 1925 Rose Bowl...1926 record 10-0 NC selected by Billingsley Report, Boand System, College Football Research Association, Helms Athletic Foundation, National Championship Foundation, Poling System...won Rose Bowl defeating Washington Huskies Legitimizing Southern football as a power...1930 record 10-0 NC Parker H. Davis and 3rd Rose Bowl win...under Coach Frank Thomas 1934 record 10-0 NC Dunkel System, Houlgate System, Poling System, and Williamson System...1941 NC Houlgate System...One must remember that before 1950 we did not have the AP or UPI college football polls or the BCS Championship but we did have other respected organizations that gave out NC's to their number one rated team...Bama won 6 NC's in either the AP or UPI or both under Coach Paul Bear Bryant 1961, 1664, 1965, 1973, 1978, and 1979...under Coach Gene Stallings NC 1992 both AP and Coaches Poll...under Coach Nick Saban NC 2009, and 2011 both AP and Coaches poll (BCS Championship). So that is 14 period but if makes LSU fans feel better throw out all before 1950 (kind of like saying history didn't happen) but Bama is still left with 9 National Championships...the most of any Division 1 Team...Roll Tide Roll...One straw stirs the drink in SEC land...see you in Baton Rouge in Nov...

You could have separated this a little better. I also noticed you didn't post bama's record or where they finished in the SEC for 1941.

He shouldn't have even put 1941 in there. We have no business claiming that one. I think if we'd drop that one we might not catch as much shite as we do. Our 9 pollera Titles are not debatable. They were awarded under the rules of the time. We have a rightful claim to all 9 of them. Every single team that has been awarded either the AP or UPI Title claims it. There's no reason we shouldn't as well.
As for the pre poll Titles, I understand where people get confused by it. They were NOT retroactively claimed, the University for some reason just didnt fully recognize them like they should have. Those teams were named National Champs and even celebrated them back in those particular years. If anyone has an issue with our 4 Rose Bowl teams, then they need to bitch about every other team that claims those kinds of pre poll Titles. michigan, usc, notre damn....Alabama is not the only team to have them

So your idea and thought process is to trash history as irrelevant...
