A lot of people will say Hal Mumme, but seriously: he was really the reason behind Chicago's great pop rise in the 80's. Yes, his songs with Amy Grant and Cher make me want to let a cuttlefish give birth in my throat and consume me from the inside, but The Glory of Love was a great power ballad that really got the rich kudos it deserved, and conveyed the power of Ralph Macchio on a zipline.
