UT Commit Dalton Santos (LB) Looking Around

With a little more than two weeks left before National Signing Day, things are starting to get a bit interesting for the Georgia Bulldogs.
UGA has no commitments at the inside linebacker position since Kent Turene opted to sign with Marshall and enroll in January rather than wait to enroll at UGA in the summer.
Not only are the Bulldogs without a commitment at the position, but they have also been without a target, until now.
Van (Texas) linebacker Dalton Santos, a Tennessee commit, said Monday he received an offer from Georgia last week, and stands alone as the their only target at the position.
"Coach O (Kirk Olivadotti) called me last week," said Santos. "I think it was after Coach (Justin) Wilcox and Coach (Peter) Sirmon came looking through to see who was committed to the team. They (Georgia) called me and told me that they watched my film and wish they had seen it earlier. I was like 'yeah, it is late in the game," or something like that. Then he said that we want to offer you a scholarship and get you to come on campus and look at us. So I said 'alright.' That is really how it all started."
The Bulldogs may be late to the game, but according to Santos, they are acting quickly and making up for lost time.
"They will be here to visit me tomorrow morning (Sunday)," said Santos. "Coach Olivadotti will be here Tuesday morning. So yeah, tomorrow morning."
The Under Armour All American remains committed to Tennessee at the moment, but Santos knows that with the offer from UGA and interest from other teams, his recruitment is far from over.
"The offer is something else to look at. UGA is a great school and they won the SEC East this year," he said. "They are well coached and they play disciplined football so there are some things to look at there for sure."
Santos is listed at 6-foot-2, 245 pounds by rivals, but says that he is up to 6-foot-3, 255 pounds right now, and he wants to continue to play in the middle regardless of the system.
"It doesn't matter what system I play in, but I want to play at inside linebacker at the mike," he said. "Whether it is a 3-4 or a 4-3, I want to be that guy in the middle. I want to be the guy calling the defense because that is what I have done my whole life."
Signing day is right around the corner, and Santos, who is considering TCU, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas A&M, Arkansas, and Tennessee, has a busy couple of weeks ahead of him in regards to official visits.
"I visit Arkansas this weekend," said Santos. "Then I'll visit Georgia and Texas A&M the next week. If I visit Texas A&M during the week, I'll visit Georgia on the weekend, or the other way around. I hope to decide sometime after all that."

A&M. Richie Brown will take his place in our class imo. As long as we don't lose Otha.

To be honest, I've never viewed him as a commit. I always figured he'd end up at TAMU and if he signed with UT, it'd be a bonus.

This is up to Sal to hold onto him. This is all about relationships and he just lost his recruiters. It wouldn't be a surprise for UT to hold on, but it won't be easy nontheless.
