Its a rivalry only when both teams are good. For example, there wasn't much hate of Bama in their down years. I would imagine the same would be true when Bama was good and LSU wasn't. Right now since both teams are good, there's some back and forth but this doesn't constitute a rivalry in the pure sense.

There was plenty of Bama hate for the Barn when Tubby holding up those fingers when Bama was down. It's like politics in Washington DC. The party in power is smug and confident. The party out of power is batshit insane.
