you guys are wrong, I mean even if they stay in the Sunbelt and win the conference every year. They will still put players into the NFL and do well. Petrino is already known as not the most personable guy and now with Gus at Astate. We will lose some possible players to him due to his relationships with high school coaches and players.

I guess Hugh Freeze didn't have any connections in Arkansas/Memphis.

Name me one player in the last 15 years that has chosen Arkansas State despite having an offer from Arkansas.

You can't.

Malzahn alone will NOT overcome the disadvantages of:
Living in f'ing shittastic Jonesboro.
Playing in front of 8000 people.
Playing in the sunbelt.
having shitty facilities.
Having inferior coaches.

If you don't believe that, then you're not a true fan of Arkansas. Any REAL fan of Arkansas would have the balls to call a spade a spade. And Arkansas is 1000x's the program that aSu is.

Oh, and I don't want any part of Malzahn's offense back on the hill. I'd MUCH rather have McGee or Paul Petrino take over when Bobby moves on.

Combine Petrino with a program that can actually recruit defensive players and you would have a dominant team. I have no doubt he would win SEC and national titles at LSU, Alabama, Georgia, or Florida.

Once Petrino realizes he needs to put his best athletes on defense, he will win the SEC at Arkansas. He's putting all of his best players on offense and if you want to win the SEC, you have to put your best players on D.

So, I just don't see him leaving unless things turn bad between Petrino and the fans at Arkansas.

Has Arkansas had a football coach that things didn't turn bad for? Not flaming just asking!

Broyles finished up his coaching tenure there in good shape but then got beat up damn bad in the Houston Nutt deal.

Holtz left on his own, but was his six years long enough for Razorback fans to form strong opinions? I don't think they ever warmed up to him enough to trun against him

They soured some on Hatfield cause I guess he wasn't tough enough. His departure was probably more due to Broyles than fan displeasure. Crowe ran into The Cidital, end of story.

With Ford, they ended up thinking he was crazy...cause he was. For Nutt, it was black shirts, FOI requests, rented planes and advertising banners.

Whatever, you calling me not a hog fan is laughable. Yeah, I do not think Petrino can recruit as good as Gus, so what there are lots of players he lost in his back yard to Gus and Auburn. Zeke Pike? for better or worse Gus can recruit and I can see him stealing players from Ole Miss, MSU and even Arkansas within this region. Could be wrong or crazy but it will happen IMO.

Main reason we had shitty coaches after joining the SEC.

Jeff Long more business oriented and doesn't get in Petrino's way.

The ONLY people would are anywhere close to being unhappy with Petrino are the ones still bitter about Nutt being fired.

Admittedly, I'm not a Razorback fan, but I have to slightly agree with HawgAlude. Now, I don't think Malzahn will steal recruits from Arkansas on a consistent basis or even with decent frequency, but the 3* here and there and possible even a 4* one in a while, sure. It could very well happen.

Some of Arkansas's biggest players this year weren't highly recruited and ASU could very well get those same types of players now with the promise of a "fun" offense and early playing time. Again, I don't think it's going to happen often, but the likely-hood is much greater now.

Tru dat!

But name one Arkansas coach that it has ended well for? If I look out past football, Norm DeBryan is the only one I can think of but it would have ended poorly for him if he hadn't retired. Your fans even knew a change needed to be made to compete yearly with the rest of the SEC.

Bing bing bing. His heavy offensive slant has taken Arkansas this far, he just needs to recruit better guys on defense. He's never had a better than mediocre defense at Arkansas yet. Right now, his defensive recruiting has got to be leaving a lot of Hog fans in questioning mode if that defense will ever be better than mediocre. Doesn't have a single 4/5 star defensive commit for 2012 (Rivals) right now and I'm not sure they're really in on any to finish out with.

Depends on what site you are using. Deatrich Wise and AJ Turner are both 4*'s on sites not named Rivals. We also have a good shot at a 4* CB and safety still. No clue at LB but I know we are brining in a couple 4*'s there for OV's still.

I did list rivals, looking at all 4 major sites though (Rivals, 247, Scout, ESPN) those 2 guys you mentioned are only a 4* on 1 of the 4 sites so it's pretty tough to call those guys 4* caliber players. Petrino needs to get out there and get some better defensive guys. Doesn't seem like you will close with any, all we ever hear about is Arkansas closing with some offensive guys left (DGB, Diamond, etc..)

This is what you think about the month before an NC game?

Maybe you can beat out aTm for the position of our main rival.

I know, right? God forbid LSU fans worry about the state of affairs of other schools in their conference, much less a school they play every year. They so stupid.

I say Petrino will be at Arkansas long enough for at least 3 more bar fights caused by lsu players.

Unless you know Arkansas, the people and the coaches involved then you do not know what you are talking about. Gus will get recruits from Arkansas who would be playing at a SEC school had they not gone to ASU. He has those contacts and he makes those athletes believe in him and his system. It may not be many only 1 or 2 but he will get them due to the fact he is there.
