I don't understand the "every game doesn't count" argument. If Bama hadn't lost on nov. 5 there would have been no debate. If Oregon, OSU, and Stanford hadn't all lost to lesser teams, Bama wouldn't have gotten in. Bama WAS penalized for losing. It's just that all the other teams that had a shot stumbled too.

That's because it doesn't make any sense and falls apart when honestly evaluated.

And here I was thinking you gumps were slow.

Alabama lost, but everyone else who lost, lost worse. Can we get beyond this argument?

The arguing really needs to stop to be honest. The voters voted and this is the result. You can whine and cry about it all you want but what's done is done. Yes, we all know that we didn't win our division or our conference, but it's a moot point now. We dropped in the rankings after our loss on November 5th. The teams between us and LSU also lost between that time and this past weekend which allowed us to move up in the polls. If I remember correctly LSU lost two games in 2007 and went to the National championship. Yes LSU won the SEC that year and would have gone to a BCS bowl game, but the teams at the top lost games before the final BCS polls which allowed LSU to move up in the rankings and thus securing a spot in the NCG.

So, while the situation is not comparable as far as winning the SEC, the situation is very comparable in the two teams moving up in rankings because those ranked higher than them losing.
