One reason for Alabama's stats is that Brad Wing was pinning them deep like he always does. You can't count Bama's offense but not mention WHY they were in the positions they were in in the first place.

Alabama's offense was better than LSU's, but LSU's special teams was FAR superior. I'm not even talking about the field goals... but Brad Wing was a huge part of the game as far as field position.

LSU's defense also played better than Alabama's in their own territory. They stopped Alabama on the side of the field that mattered. Any time Bama crossed that 50 yard line, LSU's defense clamped down hard. Alabama's bent more.

Maybe. LSU average starting drives on their side of the field. 19.5

Alabama 23

If you're not talking about FGs then what are you talking about? See above. No doubt Wing is a better punter but Bama's offense gave them opportunities to make LSU start about 4 yards deeper in their own territory.

LSU had one long offensive drive. Alabama had one long offensive drive. Both got FGs from INTs.

You can say LSU having the ball on Bama's 2 and 6 yard line meant Bama's D bent more but only one of those drives came from the LSU offense. The other penetration came from a pick and starting at the 25 in OT.
