would love to hear posters' opinions on urban's departure from gainsville AND impending return in 2012?

will gator fans admit he is the douche bag the rest of us fans know him to be?

gator-bashing / sec-bashing / and other thoughts

rumor is he is bound for O-H ...I-O

He left because major violations are coming to Florida.

He just didn't want to be at Florida anymore. That is pretty obvious.

i really do think he was extremely stressed out and it was affecting his health. but, i also think he was stressed by an increasingly competitive sec and having to compete against & recruit against some very good coaches. oh, and tebow left.

And to think, had Cam Newton been more patient about playing time at UF, Meyer is likely coaching there right now.

he left the brutal SEC for a conference that he only has to play one or two good teams in the regular season

It would make me wary before hiring this guy but I guess coaches who have already won 2 NCs don't fall into your lap every day so you kind of have to hire him if you can.

Probably a combination of burnout and knowing that UF was about to go through a rough patch because of all the recruits that didn't work out.

Meyer is an attention whore, IMHO.

In the SEC you have to work extremely hard.

He doesn't want to do that.

Pretty simple.

Ohio State will demand that Meyer put a winner on the field year in and year out, just as any team in the SEC. Plus, he will have to worry about beating Michigan every year.

So, like the OP, I am still perplexed as to Meyer's motivations. If Meyer wanted to coach for love of the game, he'd find some MAC school to pitch his tent.

he left because he was stressed out and his health was starting to suck

I kinda think this is clear to anyone who saw him on the sidelines in 2010

He's coming back now because of pride and/or he doesn't know what to do with himself as a retiree... but I don't think it is going to turn out very well after just one year off
