Notre Dame got up 31-7 and Tennessee held on 35-34 when ND missed a fg on the last play of the game. As much grief as LSU fans give Jim Hawthorne about the Bluegrass Miracle and "Jack Hunt", John Ward's call of the game said the "kick is GOOD.....NO IT IS NO GOOD".

Don't get me wrong, Ward was great. Just that stuff happens. Tried to find a link to it, but this was the best I could do:LINK /

we played Alabama that day and on the way to the stadium they were giving scores,"and in South Bend ,Notre Dame is having its way with Tennessee, 31-7." Only score I had heard at the time.

Totally forgot about it. Just figured ND would smoke them. About an hour later at the Ala-LSU game, "FINAL SCORE, (and they told it backwards for effect) NOTRE DAME 34 TENNESSEE 35"

We're like, what????

Right before Fulmer inserted the knife in Majors back, which he still holds a grudge to this day, wouldn't even mention his name on the radio today...

Best road win that I witnessed in person.

I was in college and road tripped up with some buddies. Good times...

There's a DVD for this game.....spectacular. Probably the greatest comeback I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing...and against ND.

Wow, remember that game well. I also remember being at the UGA-AU game in 1991 when Miami-FSU were playing "Wide Right... volume 1"
