I've seen RVs and people setting up on Thursdays.

The 70 yr old retired couple driving in early from Shreveport to reserve their RV spot on a Thursday is not tailgating.

Friday night at the latest?

at the earliest, tailgating starts Friday afternoon.

Some fans leave Death Valley early, but the stadium doesn't empty out like it does at some schools. We have a lot of die-hard fans who are willing to sit through a game we're obviously going to lose, just to support the team.

Like I said, the stadium is rarely full for the end of the game.

Not everyone in an RV is old and/or retired. Even if they were, old people can tailgate, too. I have friends who take off work and drive their RVs in. They are neither old nor retired. I used to ride my bike around LSUs campus as a kid and I remember seeing RVs on Thursdays even way back then. When my professors cancelled class on Fridays, we were out there Thursday night or early Friday morning at the latest. The die-hard fans start tailgating as early as they can.
