Smashing non-SEC schools and then rubbing it in by chanting SEC. Tailgating starting on Thursdays at the latest. Being loud from before the first whistle until the band has left the stadium.
^^ This.
Coke or pop? I say soda or Coke if actual Coke is available.
The tailgating on thursdays thing is what gets me. Where? At the stadium? Is everyone retired that travels or do you only work half the week?
I am VERY curious to see how this process works.

No no no. All soft drinks are Coke. Even Pepsi is Coke. When asking a guest for a drink you say something like, "Want a Coke?"
If they say yes you say, "What kind?"

I did like the warm welcomes.
KC is most definitely a college town. It is a border city with no other cities near it so we have kU, kstate, iowa state and nebraska fan bases kinda mixed in with each other. kU/MU fight over the city. With the Border War @ Arrowhead stadium ever year (even next year) We play kU and we will bring 60-70% of the crowd.
The Sprint Center actually has a basketball tourney this month that I will be going to. Depending on who wins, Mizzou would end up playing Georgia. So I will get a feel for SEC culture by how many basketball fans you send to KC.
EDIT - show shaft? Sounds tempting. Maybe another time. Get some rest. Sounds like you could use some.

It's mainly the students that start this early

For the tailgating thing, what time do you start cooking?
(this is a trick question, the DAY you start is needed as well)

I lol'd.
What is SEC culture you ask?
-Tailgating with your best friends 2 days before the game.
-Loud stadiums packed with 90,000+ fans with nearly that many outside the stadium watching on TV
-Offering fans of your most hated rival a beer as they walk by your tailgate
-The smell of Bourbon, BBQ, Jambalaya, and Gumbo on a cool saturday morning in the fall.
-Your whole town in a frenzy the night before a game
-Chanting "Tiger bait" "War Eagle" and "Roll Tide" as you walk through an airport seeing other SEC colors...then talking SEC sports with that person like you've known each other your whole life as you board the plane.
-Not being able to function at work or school the week of a big game.
-Hot womenz
-People who live and die for their schools
And, It's not a process. It's a way of life down here.

All over town. Nobody tailgates at the stadium.
Vacation days are saved up for those Fridays off. My boss is a Bama fan but she understands CFB down here so has no issue with me leaving at 2 or 3 on Fridays to get out of town to get down to AU.
Everything is Coke.

Make sure your women are hot, wear sundresses, and are either knowledgable about football or know when to shut up...preferably the former.
Here is the tough one for you guys...when the St Louis Cardinals are in that late Sept push to make the playoffs and Mizzou is playing UT at the same time...thse TVs better be on the UT/Mizzou game. Understand that football is more important.
Oh...and put some goddamn seats in that endzone! Im not driving or flying to Boone County(thats right, I already know where you guys are) for a frickin picnic!

Mizzou,
First thing you need to know: This is the Rant. ALL newbies get skull-dragged, not just Mizzou. Stadium behavior is important. Never sit. Never leave early. Never sell your seat to an opposing team's fans. Never give an inch in an argument with another team's fans. The NEXT game becomes all-important. Never schedule weddings, graduations, funerals, religious ceremonies - anything on Game Day. Tailgates start Thursday night, or Friday afternoon (if you can't leave work/class early). Eat/drink to excess. Those are for starters. Your schooling really starts when you show up at Tiger Stadium at night. Amen and amen.
