Bama's coaching decisions during the game were surprising, to say the least. Someone on the Bama sidelines, maybe Saban, wasn't thinking clearly.

But there is no doubt that Bama has a great team and are very well prepared. They just made several critical bone-headed decisions, like going for impossibly long field goals.

The Maze pass was a brilliant call which just didn't work. Can't fault them for that.

But completely eschewing field position in favor of confidence killing long kick attempts set the table for the ending.

This performance by Saban made Miles the smarter coach during this game. Not by gimmicks, but through sound fundamentals.

I actually think going with the wildcat was a good play call, even though it didn't work out for them.

Throughout the game, once they got close to the 30, LSU's defense stiffened and Bama went backwards. They needed to do something different, and they did. Had Reid not made that exceptional play, Bama would have probably won. But he did, and LSU won the game.

Saban might want to start wearing a white hat like his daddy does. He was trying to do a Lesticles impersonation and it back fired.
