And an AP championship counts as a national championship?

every bit as much as the coaches poll championship ("crystal ball") counts as a championship.

exactly

go check any trophy case across the country. There are 2 trophies for the National Championship, The BCS/Coaches Poll, and the AP

Even LSU celebrates the AP trophy for 2007 in their trophy case right next to the BCS/Coaches Poll trophy. If LSU had one for 2003 they would celebrate that one in the trophy case too. Its only b/c USC won the AP trophy in 2003 that LSU fans want to pretend like the AP doesn't count. If the shoe were on the other foot, and USC won the BCS and LSU won the AP, 100% of LSU fans would claim a national championship that year, and they would have every right to do so

But to assert that LSU only won half a championship is absurd. Which is what you have done.

1a) Florida
1b) LSU
3) USC

I hesitate to even put USC there at all after they just got the hammer and had a title stripped.

When discussing LSU's BCS era championships, virtually no thought or mention is given to the AP trophy. The entire focus is on the BCS championship in any discussion. The same is true for every BCS/AP trophy winner. The AP trophy only
becomes relevant when the AP disagrees with the Coaches
Poll.

While the AP trophy, like every other award, is on display, to assert that it has the same importance or status as the BCS trophy, is simply a denial of the reality of how the two awards are regarded. I suspect if you ask fans and players of any school that has won both which award is more significant, the overwhelming majority will say that they regard the BCS r
Championship as the more significant.
