I think he was honestly just trying to get off the field. He probably figured Franklin was pulling a kiffin and just wanted a sound bite here or there. If Richt had reacted and they had gotten in an argument can you imagine the ensuing fallout? Franklin already called out a player, lord knows how he'd act to try and get more publicity in his program.
